A Trust is a legal entity which is formed by\nthe \u2018Settler\u2019 or \u2018Trustor\u2019 who transfers the assets to the \u2018Trustee\u2019 or the\nsecond party for the benefit of the \u2018Beneficiary\u2019 or the third party. The\ntrusts are formed to support and help the impoverished and deprived sections of\nthe society. A Trust can be registered by any group of individuals and there\nare no specific laws as such to govern the public trust in India. However, some\nstates like Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra have their own <strong><em>Public Trust Act<\/em><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Society\"><\/span>Society <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Societies are\ngoverned by the <strong><em>Societies Registration Act, 1860<\/em><\/strong>. It must be registered with\nthe respective state registrar of societies to be eligible for being exempted\nfrom paying tax. A group of Individuals unite together to form a society in the\ncause for promoting arts, science, social welfare, literature and other useful\ninformation. The societies work for maintaining public libraries and museum and\nfor creating military orphan funds.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Section_8_Company\"><\/span>Section 8 Company <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A section 8\nCompany is registered under the <strong><em>Companies Act, 2013<\/em><\/strong> for the\ncharitable purpose. The objective of section 8 companies is to promote science,\narts, commerce, social welfare, sports, charity, religion and environmental\nprotection. It is similar to Trust and Society. A Section 8 Company has better\ncredibility among the government bodies, stakeholders and donors. Section 8\nCompany is registered as a Non- Profit Organization (NPO).
