Further, both Life Insurance and General Insurance\nCompanies are administered by IIRDAI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main aim of\nthe body is to protect the interest of people and to regulate activities, and\nfacilitate the development of the insurance sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, it shall be taken into consideration that not only the insurance companies but <a href=\"https:\/\/swaritadvisors.com\/insurance-web-aggregator-license\" class=\"text-primary\"><strong>insurance web aggregator<\/strong><\/a> and insurance broker also need to acquire registration from IRDAI for commencing their operations and activities in India. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Concept_of_ASHA_Community\"><\/span>Concept of ASHA Community<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The term ASHA stands for Accredited Social Health\nActivists is a community of health workers, which is instituted by the Central\nGovernment under the (MoHFW) Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, as a part\nof the NRHM (National Rural Health Mission). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further, it shall be noted that ASHA workers are trained and skilled women who need to act as health educators\nand promoters in their respective communities. The key tasks of these workers\nare as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>To\nmotivate women to go to hospitals for their deliveries; <\/li><li>To\nbring children to the immunization clinics; <\/li><li>To\nencourage family planning;<\/li><li>To\ntreat basic injury and illness with first aid; <\/li><li>To\nkeep demographic records; <\/li><li>To\nimprove village sanitation, etc.;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, ASHAs are often termed as a key communication\nbetween the healthcare mechanism and rural populations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Concept_of_MGNREGA_Scheme\"><\/span>Concept of MGNREGA Scheme<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The abbreviated MGNREGA stands for the <strong>Mahatama Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act<\/strong><sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Rural_Employment_Guarantee_Act,_2005\" class=\"text-primary\"><strong>[1]<\/strong><\/a><\/sup>, which aims to provide a legal guarantee for 100 days of employment to adult members in every financial year. Further, such adult members belong to rural households willing to do public work concerning unskilled manual work at a statutory minimum wage. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, the same\npurposes to improve the purchasing power of the rural people, predominantly\nsemi or unskilled work to the people who are living below the poverty line in\nrural India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further, the MRD (Ministry of Rural Development) has\nthe power to monitor the complete\nimplementation of the said scheme in association with the state governments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Key_Obligations_of_Insurers_towards_ASHA_and_MGNREGA_Workers\"><\/span>Key Obligations of Insurers towards ASHA and MGNREGA Workers<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The IRDAI has received various requests\nand applications for clarification that as to whether the policies granted to\nthe people under the occupations of MGNREGA and ASHA workers can be considered\nfor the \u201csocial sector\u201d\nfor the compliance with the obligations provided under the IRDAI (Obligations\nof Insurers to Rural &amp; Social sectors) Regulations 2015. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After due consideration on the requests\nreceived, it is explained under the provisions of Rule 7 of the IRDAI (Obligations\nof Insurers to Rural &amp; Social sectors) Regulations 2015 that the ASHA (Accredited\nSocial Health Activist) workers and the MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural\nEmployment Guarantee Act) workers can be considered under the Rural and Social\nSector category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conclusion\"><\/span><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In a nutshell, the IRDAI, by way of Notification No IRDAI\/ Life\/ MISC\/ Cir\/ 046 \/ 03\/ 2021 on 11.03.2021, has notified the obligations of Insurers towards ASHA and MGNREGA workers. That means from now onwards, ASHA and MGNREGA worker will be considered under the rural and social category.
