That means it prevents the exposure of infectious materials, which can cause damage and illness to the body. <\/li><li><strong>Minimises the Risk<\/strong>: In case of an airborne bacteria, this kit will help in <em>reducing the risk of respiratory diseases<\/em>.<\/li><li><strong>To prevent the spread of Potentially Infectious Materials<\/strong>: This kit acts as <em>lifesaver equipment<\/em>. The reason for the same is that it averts the growth of bacteria and germs from one individual to another. The term \u201c<strong>social distancing<\/strong>\u201d means that one person needs to maintain at least 1 metre distance from another person;<\/li><li>Every person needs to follow adhere to the protocol laid down by the <em>authorities for getting rid of PPEs<\/em>. Moreover, the guidelines regarding the <em>prevention of infection<\/em>, disposal of glovesare available on the <strong>official portal of MoHFW<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mohfw.gov.in\/\">[1]<\/a> . <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"PPE_Kit_Certification\"><\/span>PPE Kit Certification<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:left\">Recently, the <strong>Ministry of Textile<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/texmin.nic.in\/\">[2]<\/a>  has issued several guidelines for the <em>manufacturing unit and testing centres of PPE<\/em>. The purpose of these guidelines was to streamline the <em>process of testing and manufacturing<\/em>. And also aim at ensuring the <strong>quality of PPE coveralls<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further, the <strong>Ministry of Health and Family Welfare<\/strong> has issued some guidelines for healthcare workers. Healthcare workers include <em>professionals working in Quarantine Centres<\/em>, Laboratory, Primary Health Care, Community Setting. These guidelines talk about the <strong>different types of PPEs<\/strong> and their use in various settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Testing_and_Certification_of_Samples\"><\/span>Testing and Certification of Samples<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In India, the <strong>INMAS<\/strong> has been assigned the responsibility to <strong>test the PPE<\/strong> full body or notified body coverall samples submitted. INMAS stands for the <strong>Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Services<\/strong>. The test conducted by the INMAS is known as the \u201c<strong>Synthetic Blood Penetration Resistance Test<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Specifications_of_PPE_Products\"><\/span>Specifications of PPE Products<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>In India, a company after <\/em><strong><em>obtaining the PPE Kit Certification<\/em><\/strong><em> needs to provide the PPE Products as follows:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li><strong>Gloves<\/strong>: The specification for the quality of gloves are as follows:<ol><li>Nitrile;<\/li><li>Non-sterile;<\/li><li>Powder-free;<\/li><li>Outer gloves must reach mid-forearm (a minimum 280 mm total length)<\/li><li>Available in Different sizes.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><li><strong>Coverall<\/strong>: The specifications for the quality of Coveralls are as follows:<ol><li>Resistant to blood and body fluids;<\/li><li>Single-Use;<\/li><li>Avoid black colour;<\/li><li>Must be in light colours as they help better in noticing possible contamination;<\/li><li>Finger or Thumb Loops to anchor sleeves in place;<\/li><li>A Quality Complaint about the ISO 16603 class 3 exposure pressure.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><li><strong>Googles<\/strong>: The specifications for the quality of googles can be summarised as:<ol><li>Well-fitting transparent and zero-power glasses;<\/li><li>Adjustable Holders on all sides;<\/li><li>A Flexible frame that fits easily to all face types without using much of a pressure;<\/li><li>Must cover full eyes and the surrounding areas;<\/li><li>Fog-resistant;<\/li><li>Scratch-resistant;<\/li><li>Band with an adjustable feature that does not loose while carrying outthe clinical activity;<\/li><li>Indirect venting that helps in minimising fogging;<\/li><li>Re-usable or disposable material;<\/li><li>A Quality Complaint about the standards given below:<\/li><li>EU (European Union) standard directive 86\/686\/EEC, EN 166\/2002<\/li><li>ANSI\/SEA Z87.1-2010.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><li><strong>N-95 Masks<\/strong>: The specifications for the quality of N- 95 Masks can be summarised as:<ol><li>Mask must not shrink;<\/li><li>High filtration efficiency;<\/li><li>Passage of oxygen is efficient with expiratory valve;<\/li><li>A Quality complaint about standards for the medical N-95 respirator:<\/li><li>NIOSH N-95, EN 149FFP2.<\/li><li>Must be fluid resistant, i.e., it must have a minimum 80mmHg pressure based on ASTM F1862, ISO 22609.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><li><strong>Shoe Covers<\/strong>: The specifications for the quality of Shoe Covers can be summarised as:<ol><li>Must be made of same fabric and material as coverall; <\/li><li>Must cover the entire shoe;<\/li><li>Should reach above ankles.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><li><strong>Face Shields<\/strong>: The specifications for the quality of Face Shieldsare as follows:<ol><li>Must be made of clear plastic;<\/li><li>Must providegood visibility to both the patient and wearer;<\/li><li>Adjustable band to attach easily around the head and fit comfortably against the forehead;<\/li><li>Fog-Resistant;<\/li><li>Easily covers the length and sides of the face;<\/li><li>Re-usable or Disposable;<\/li><li>Quality Complaint about the standards given below: <ul><li>EU (European Union) standard directive 86\/686\/EEC, EN 166\/2002;<\/li><li>ANSI\/SEA Z87.1-2010.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Requirements_of_CE_Marking\"><\/span>Requirements of CE Marking<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Normally, the <em>manufacture is under an obligation to assure conformity with all the prescribed requirements<\/em>. The term \u201crequirements\u201d means that the PPE Kit must meet EU Directives. However, a manufacturer does not need to comply with EU Directives if it has <strong>obtained CE Marking<\/strong>. In India, the requirements for <strong>obtaining CE Marking<\/strong> are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>The manufacturer must have a complete understanding concerning <strong>EU requirement for the PPE product<\/strong>;<\/li><li>The manufacturer must verify that the products are being produced as per the norms of <strong>relevant EU requirements<\/strong>;<\/li><li>All the products must be tested and checked by a Notified Body;<\/li><li>Examine all the <strong>PPE products<\/strong>;<\/li><li>The manufacturer must check that all the products have successfully fulfilled the technical requirement;<\/li><li>The manufacturer must affix the <strong>CE marking on the PPE Product<\/strong>;<\/li><li>The manufacturer must sign an EU (<strong>European Union<\/strong>) declaration of conformity.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Validity_Period_of_CE_Certification\"><\/span>Validity Period of CE Certification<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A <strong>CE Certification<\/strong> remains valid for a period of three years.
