Under the provisions of this act, any or every citizen of India has full right to demand\/ request information from the public authority which must be answered by the government within 30 days of the request. In this article, we will discuss <strong>how to file RTI application Online<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The current RTI act has replaced the erstwhile <strong>Freedom of Information Act<\/strong>, 2002. For those who can\u2019t <strong>file an RTI online<\/strong> can apply offline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those who wish to <strong>file an online RTI application<\/strong> to keep reading the blog and follow the steps as mentioned below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PART 1 \u2013 Signing up procedure<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step1_Register_with_the_Official_RTI_portal_of_the_Central_Govt\"><\/span>Step1: Register with the Official RTI portal of the Central Govt. <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Open the <strong>official website of RTI, i.e., <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/rtionline.gov.in\/\"><strong>https:\/\/rtionline.gov.in\/<\/strong><\/a>. Either copy and paste this link in your browser or just click on the link. Once you have reached on the portal, locate and click the \u201c<strong>Sign up here<\/strong>\u201d option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_2_Fill_up_the_Form_for_registration\"><\/span>Step 2: Fill up the Form for registration<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>After signing up, you will get a form which you are supposed to fill up with correct details. Especially, ensure that the email ID and the mobile number that you have provided are valid and accurate so that you can receive notifications and <strong>SMS alerts<\/strong> after you <strong>file your RTI application online<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After you have <strong>filled up all the details correctly<\/strong>, check for any errors and then click on submit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_3_In_the_next_Form_enter_the_Activation_ID\"><\/span>Step 3: In the next Form, enter the Activation ID\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The moment you click submit, you will get a confirmation email on the ID, which you have provided. There would be an activation ID in the email. You must enter this in the next form. With this, your account with the official RTI website for the Central Government will be created, and you can now start the procedure for filing the RTI application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PART 2 \u2013 Filing the Request for RTI online<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step4_File_the_request_for_RTI\"><\/span>Step4: File the request for RTI<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Now you can log in <strong>from your RTI Account<\/strong>. Once you have logged in you must click on the submit request button. Another form will appear in front of you; this will be your <strong>online RTI application<\/strong>. You need to fill in this form correctly and then click on the submit option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step5_Make_the_payment\"><\/span>Step5: Make the payment<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Your <strong>online RTI application<\/strong> will remain incomplete until you pay the <em>application fee of Rs. 10<\/em>. You will see an online payment request form where you have to choose the payment option and the name of your bank. Then click on Pay. After you have successfully completed the payment, you will receive an <em>SMS confirming the success of your application<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the payment, you will get a unique registration number which you can refer to for any future reference. You must ensure that the receipt number is stored in some safer place as you will require it to track the status of your RTI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After you have completed the <strong>procedure for filing an online RTI application<\/strong> from your side, the authorities will now review your application under the Right to Information Act Online. In case, if there\u2019s any additional fee required, the Central Public Information Officer will notify you of the same through the <strong>RTI application online portal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Points_to_Note\"><\/span>Points to Note:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The above process isn\u2019t as simple as it sounds, especially the part of filing the request.
