Procedure to obtain BIS ISI Certification for Cylinder, Valves and Regulator

The process to obtain BIS ISI Certification for Cylinder, Valves and Regulators is as follows:

  • The applicant must login to the Manak portal of BIS[1].
  • The applicant has to select the IS mark from the above-mentioned table.
  • The applicant should fill in the details of the factory, raw materials manufacturing process etc.
  • The applicant must provide the details about testing facilities. The applicant must ensure in-house testing facilities.
  • Once the steps mentioned above are completed. The BIS officer and an inspection team shall visit the factory premises.
  • The inspection team shall conduct an inspection of the product. They shall also go through the manufacturing process.
  • Next, the BIS officials shall draw out random samples from the factory for testing purposes.
  • The applicant has to get the product tested from a 3rd party BIS-authorised lab and attach the test reports to the application form.
  • After this process, the BIS officials will scrutinise the application form, and the documents will be cross-verified. BIS will also look into the test reports to ensure that product meets the standards. If satisfied with everything, the BIS shall issue BIS ISI Certification for Cylinder, Valves and Regulator to the applicant.

Validity of BIS ISI Certification for Cylinder, Valves and Regulator

The BIS ISI Certification for Cylinder, Valves and Regulator shall be valid for a minimum of one year, and this can be extended to two years at most. After the lapse of this period, the applicant shall have to file for the renewal of certification.

Penalty for improper use of BIS ISI Certification for Cylinder, Valves and Regulator

If the manufacturer is found misusing the ISI mark, counterfeiting the mark, or selling the product without the ISI mark, then shall be liable for a minimum of minimum ₹50,000 and imprisonment, which may extend to 1 year.
