While filling the application of GST registration details, there may be a possibility of entering the wrong information or there may be a requirement of updating the information under the GST application. In both cases, a business owner can update or make changes in the filled details, so as to correct the mistake. When you can update the information in the GST Registration details?

You can make the changes in the GST registration application-

  • At the time of the processing of the application
  • Or if your business has already been registered under the GST (that is the application of GST registration is already gone under the processing).

List of fields, whose Information can be updated or Changed

When you try to make the changes in the information provided in the GST application, there are certain areas where you can make the changes-

  • Name of the business (Changes made here will be reflected in every state)
  • Address of the business place
  • Additional place of business
  • Changes in the partners, directors, managing committee, CEO of the company
  • Updating/correction of mobile number, or e-mail address of the authorized signatory

If you are looking to make the amendments in apart from the sections mentioned above, then you just need to submit the Form GST REG-14 on the common portal. And regarding that, no inspection is done by the GST officer.

However, if you have made any mistake in the details of PAN card[1] details, then let us inform you that there is no way to make the changes in the  PAN card details. The only way to make changes is by filing the fresh application of GST registration using the FORM GST REG-01.

What is the Procedure of Changing or updating the details of GST Registration?

For making the changes in the GST registration you need to follow the process listed below-

STEP1: FORM GST REG-14

The first step is to fill the FORM GST REG-14 and submit it with the required documents.

STEP2: FORM GST REG-15

There is a FORM GST REG-15, which will be used by the GST officer for the approval, after the verification. The changes proposed will come into effect from the date of occurrence of the event.

STEP3: FORM GST REG-03

In case the GST officer doesn’t approve the documents submitted by you, then GST officer will serve a show-cause notice in FORM GST REG-03

STEP4: FORM GST REG-04

Once you receive the intimation by the GST officer, you have to reply in FORM GST REG-04 within 7 days.

STEP5: FORM GST REG-05

When you reply to the officer in the FORM GST REG-04 and the GST officer somehow not agrees with the justification provided by you. Then the GST officer can reject your application and pass an order in FORM GST REG-05.
