Which Act Regulates the Trade License in Uttar Pradesh?
In Uttar Pradesh, the Act which governs the trade license is known as Uttar Pradesh Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1962.
Eligibility Criteria for acquiring Trade License in Uttar Pradesh
The government of Uttar Pradesh has set some guidelines mandatory for those who want to obtain a license for trading within the state. Those criteria are as follows:
- The trader or business owner should have completed at least eighteen years of age;
- The applicant must not hold any criminal cases or record against him/her;
- The business which is going to be started by the applicant should be legally allowed.
Documents Required for Trade License in Uttar Pradesh
The applicant willing to start a trade in Uttar Pradesh needs to submit the following documents to the municipal corporation:
- Identity proof of the individual such as PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, etc.
- Address proof of the applicant which could be either Driving License, Passport, etc.
- PAN card of the establishment (applies to Companies/LLPs/Firms);
- Memorandum of Association (MoA) of the company;
- Articles of Association (AoA) of the company;
- Bank Statement and a cancelled cheque;
- Income Tax Return (ITR) and Property Tax Receipt;
- Affidavit;
- Documentary proof of the business/trade establishment;
- Lease documents or consent letter from the property owner;
- Proof of the premise of the business such as the Sales Deed, Electricity Bill, and Water Bill;
- No-objection Certificate from the premise owner;
- Other Documents as required.

How to apply for Trade License in Uttar Pradesh?
Request for a trade license can be made both online and offline. However, in this blog, we are going to discuss the online procedure for the same. Please follow the steps described below:
Step 1: Logon to the Online Portal of E-NagarSewa
Firstly, you need to log on to the online portal of e-NagarSewa. Then, submit the application online to the respective local body.
Step 2: Upload the Documents
Along with the application, you also need to upload the required documents.
Step 3: Submit the Fees
Once you have submitted the required documents and application, you have to make the payment as specified by the government.
Step 4: Approval or Rejection of the Application
On the receipt of the application, the assigned officer or verifier will approve/disapprove it. If it’s rejected, the officer will intimate the applicant of the same either through email or SMS.
Step 5: Approval Displayed on the dashboard
If the application is approved, the officer will display it on their login dashboard. Furthermore, the approver puts its DSC (Digital Signature Certificate) on the application.
Step 6: Intimation of Trade License Approval
The applicant will receive the approval of the license on his/her registered mobile number. Furthermore, the applicant could download the digitally signed license on the successful authentication of SMS.
