The GST API application shall enable the business enterprises or software vendors to integrate their software with GSTN through GST portal. This will enable the taxpayer to access the GSTR information into the ERP system and perform various functions such as reconciliation, purchase register, sales register.

GST API (Application Program Interface) connectors are those connectors that provide the services to the taxpayers which are related to different areas as specified below:

  • Information related to payment of taxes
  • Return filing
  • Registration under GST
  • Ledger viewing
  • Creation of challan
  • Offline tool for Return filing

API is the pointers which are to be integrated into the GST portal[1] to help the GST application developers to understand, use the API in their applications. However, These API’s are still in the beta testing mode. The government is following a platform approach which will help the user simplest and fastest way to file the GST returns.

Going forward Goods and Service Tax Network will come out with GST Services in the form of application and mobile app named GST Suvidha Provider (GSP) to enable the taxpayer to file the returns with the help of GST Suvidha Provider.

Modules for GSP

Registration

This module will enable GST registration, changes to new registrations, rejection of registration, cancellation of registration and surrender of registrations for taxpayers and practitioners registered under GST

Uploading of Invoices

This module will help to upload, update invoices which will enable to accept, modify or reject the invoices and generate returns.

Payments

This module will generate challans, payment history, and all the challans in respect of all the states for which registration is taken under the same permanent account number.

Maintenance of accounts

This module will enable to maintain the accounts in the form of ledger.

Miscellaneous

This module will enable the taxpayer to search for recent notifications, alerts, tax holidays, also can search for a particular taxpayer or tax practitioners.

Eligibility for becoming a GSP

  • A company which is registered under the Companies Act, 1956 or 2013
  • A public sector undertaking that is either registered under Centre or State
  • A partnership firm or an LLP.

Application Service Provider (ASP)

To become an ASP, the service provider has to integrate his software solution with GSP INDIA.
