How to get an ARAI Certificate?

The following steps must be taken in order to receive an ARAI Certificate:

  • According to the guidelines provided in ISO 8178-7, identify the vehicle's engine or model family. The authorised agency, however, has the final say in choosing the engine and family.
  • The supplier requests the kind of clearance from the certifying body in accordance with GSR 232 modifications and Rule 6 of GSR 771(E) (E). This certification is necessary to confirm the manufacturer's production conformity (COP).
  • The applicant next completes the type approval application form in accordance with the vehicle type as specified in Annexures II and V. The applicant completes the application form with all necessary information, such as the parent model, test results, etc.
  • After that, based on the information provided in the application form, the certification agency selects the family, parent model, and other variants.
  • After selecting the specifics, the certification authority tests the parent model.
  • The certification authority or agency also decides whether the type approval application filed is a member of the same family as the model that has already received certification or not.
  • According to the certification authority or agency's instructions, an engine sample is submitted for testing to determine the engine's emission level.
  • The applicant receives the type approval certificate (ARAI Certificate) after the supplier's engine passes the testing.
  • Nonetheless, the provider must repair, modify, and replace the sample engine if it does not pass the taste. The applicant then delivers the updated application to the certifying authority.
  • If the maker doesn't fix, alter, and replace the sample within three months, the application is deemed withdrawn. So, the applicant must submit a fresh application.

The ARAI Certifications are often granted by Indian manufacturers in one month and by overseas manufacturers in two months.

Note: The supplier's application will be deemed withdrawn if the manufacturer doesn't fix, alter, and replace the sample within three months. As a result, the provider will need to submit a new application.
